Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MattyTK Maps handles information when you use this website. The site is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary.
Information we collect
Public visitors do not need an account. The web server may automatically record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps, and error information in server logs. These logs may be used for security, troubleshooting, and operation of the website.
Administrator accounts store a username and a one-way password hash. Passwords are not stored in plain text. The site also uses a necessary session cookie to keep an administrator signed in.
Location information
Location access is optional and requires browser permission. When a visitor uses “Show my location,” the position is displayed in the browser and is not intentionally saved by this website. In administrator Field Mode, a live GPS position is not saved unless the administrator intentionally adds a mapped location. When a mapped location is added, the latitude and longitude of that location are stored as map content.
Map providers
This website uses map tiles and map data from OpenStreetMap. When map tiles load, your browser connects to OpenStreetMap infrastructure, which may receive normal request information such as your IP address, browser information, referring page, and requested map tiles. OpenStreetMap operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
How information is used
Information is used to operate the site, provide map features, maintain administrator access, prevent misuse, diagnose problems, and maintain security. We do not intentionally sell personal information or use this site for behavioral advertising.
Cookies
The site uses a strictly necessary session cookie for administrator authentication and security. No advertising or analytics cookies are included in the default site.
Data retention and security
Map content and administrator account information are kept until they are deleted or no longer needed. Server logs may be retained according to the hosting provider's configuration. Reasonable technical safeguards are used, but no website or method of storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices
You may deny browser location permission and still view public maps. You can also remove this site's location permission through your browser settings. For questions about information associated with you, contact us using the email below.
Children
This website is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Public map viewing does not require users to submit personal information.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the website changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
